What's up everyone? It's ya man Kris White a.k.a. SouthernSlang CEO of SlangCity Records. I'm just getting my independent label off the ground starting with myself with the release of my debut independent double disc album Underground Platinum/Underground Classic. I began to venture into music about 10 years ago, but never really took it that serious to actually start my own label unitl 2005. I noticed alot of artist were producing and releasing their own material and most were creating better music than major label artist if you ask my opinion. So, I decided to school myself up with books and classes on managing and having your own independent record label. It took about 2 years of research and its really hard work, but for those who are thinking that same way remember it takes money to make money. Marketing is one aspect that is very major and its a tremendous effort to fulfill if you low on funds. Your best bet in my opinion and what I'm concentrating on is starting out locally forget the majors do your thing and work your area and thats what being independent to me is all about.
