Mr O.Kay's passion for music first began when he was just 10 years old, living in the Democratic Republic of Congo. It was there that his brother taught him how to play piano and Mr O.Kay hasn't stopped creating since.
In 1999 he joined a rap group called D.L.M. For almost 3 years he made beats and played keyboard for the group, along with his brother who had also joined. It was in 2004 that Mr O.Kay, after moving to New York City with his family, began to produce independently. He learned from local DJ's and underground producers, and eventually started producing both rappers and R&B singers.
Mr O.Kay's main influences include Dr. Dre, Scott Storch, Timbaland, Ryan Leslie, J. Dilla, and 9th Wonder. He recently released a free EP with rapper 2 Dash Tone, entitled "Music Is My Mistress", which he produced in its entirety. He hopes one day to afford a larger studio, but until then, his hunger for success and undoubted confidence will continue to drive him toward his dreams.
