Born William “Newell” Brown on may 14th, 1988. Newell is a Hip-Hop entrepreneur that not only holds the title of an artist, but accounts for most of his production and mastering as well as graphic design and cinematography used in his work. Newell is from Kansas City Missouri. He has made several musical anomalies and constructed work on many other artists’ projects in the underground hip-hop organization. “A young talented member of the new era of rap bringing some new vibes and sometimes controversial topics to his music” is what he has been said to obtain by recording artists he works with. When asked why he chose the name Newell, the response is easy, “It’s my Real Name”. “I used to go by other aliases that never really stuck or meant as much, then one day a friend said, use your name Newell, and I have ever since”. The main influence to Newell initially was Tupac Shakur. Being an artist almost every rapper gives respect and credit to part of their influence; it is almost a natural thing to do. But Newell Focused on more lyrical and poetic rhymes in the beginning of his career as a outcome of listening to Tupac, Bone Thugs, Twista, Tech N9ne, Eazy-E, and throwing in other favorites like Too Short, Young Buck or cash money. The movement Newell has embarked on is an epic journey down the road to stardom. Coming up from multiple near life ending incidents, having lived in inner-city projects and on down to small towns moving several times growing up. Changing friends and area codes, he found himself rebelling against the life he faced and becoming known as a criminal, gangster or thug. Newell found a musical peace through all of this having pass time writing or rapping since he was in the 3rd grade. When given opportunity to record in 2004, he began to formulate his career in music and spread the messages he wanted to share with the world. Newell is someone who has multiple skills and has not reached full potential, but with dreams and ambitions, will take this stature to new heights in the upcoming months to release a Mix tape “H.M.O.S.” (Host my own S! #$) as a response to DJ’s not hosting the mix tape on Sep 24th 2012.
