New York, home of the “Big Apple” also known as the birthplace of Hip Hop is quintessential to music’s history and to those who originated from there. 26-year old rapper/songwriter Prince Rexx, has emerged from Harlem, NY with an abundance of music tracks that is sure to capture your ear. Rexx’s music gears towards this generation’s enjoyment of rap which is not only relatable but versatile. As a youth Rexx realized not only his passion for rap but his talent to write and perform as well. “Put Ya Hands Up” with the beat from Jae Millz (My Swagg) was his first single to be played at numerous parties in Bronx, NY (which led to further recordings and a community buzz. Idolizing music’s main stream artists Eminem, 50 Cent and newly artist Dave East, Prince Rexx’s music lyrics has a raw delivery along with melodies that have a club banger feel. “I love to make good music. If I dance, it’s good music (chuckles)…If the music makes you move or makes you think about the message it’s good music.”-Prince Rexx While living in St Nicholas Housing located within Harlem, NY, Rexx was raised by his grandmother and mother while living with his two older sisters. “My pops wasn’t majorly there because he pursued a life in the music biz himself which he became successful at. He’s a former member of Wreck N Effect, need I say more…” Rexx did mostly what any youngster would do into his teenage years, play video games, play basketball and of course make songs which surely made into his collection of hits. Although playing basketball is love of Rexx, making music is the largest passion. Amongst friends and other independent artists, Rexx has featured music with over 10 artists and groups and has worked with one of the best music engineers: Big Tyme, King Kafele, Lady Clips, Kliqued Up, Yon_Der, Eman Musik (engineer/producer) and many more. Currently, Rexx has over 45 tracks recorded and over 3 music videos within his library of music which is steadily growing. “The key is to stay motivated and really be into it. I can make all types of hits…mad, sad, lonely, heartbroken, especially when you’re feeling good to turn up.” Surely, Rexx’s diligence is proven within his music and is anything but “fluffy” music. Prince Rexx’s amount of followers are growing and signature line of music is sure to be widely heard.
