"I am music." -Don Richie With a stage presence that mesmerizes the audience, coupled with the unique ability to convey his thoughts through the art of rap, Don Richie continues to raise the bar and shift the music industry with each new project. His dedication and determination over the last decade of his life have been used as fuel to rise higher than his last accomplishment, to shine brighter than his competition, and to blaze a fresh path for other artists. He has a new sound. In his words, “I try to stay outside the box. Artists tend to get stuck in this one particular sound. Why do that when I can hit you from this angle, that angle, and come back from a third angle and you still feel it.” Don Richie was born as Kadarrious Fox on January 27, 1991 to a single mother in the small town of Grenada, Mississippi. It was apparent at the age of five, when he picked up his first microphone that he was headed toward the stage; however, Don Richie would experience a troubled childhood. As a result of some poor choices as a young adult, he was forced to move to Michigan; however, shortly after returning to Mississippi at the age of fifteen, he found the beats again while in a studio where he recorded his first track, “Swang”. Although he excelled in sports, it became evident that music would ultimately become the only outlet powerful enough to fuel such a creative soul. Within the next couple of years, he started an Indie label, built a studio in his mother’s home, and began to work on his first mix tape, ‘Boy Meets World’. In 2012, at the age of 21, he decided to move back to Michigan to promote his music. He currently resides there and is performing and diligently working, writing, and recording new material. Don Richie has opened up for the talented Don Tripp and recorded, performed, and been featured alongside many other talented artists such as, Ya Boi C, Dee Smoov, Mid Grade, Treal Y.M.P., Royality, Macs The Realest, Mic Phelps, Hoodkid and G-Stacks. He traveled from Michigan to Atlanta in December of 2012 to perform at Exposure Open Mic and at Chit Chat the following night in Atlanta. He returned form Michigan in February 2013 to perform at The Bar Exam in Atlanta, and auditioned for Encore #7 and was chosen as one of the performers. He was the first performer at Encore #7, and opened up the event on February 28th with a performance that many believe began that shift in the music industry. He attended the 2013 GA Music Awards on June 8th in Atlanta and performed at the after party at Metro Fuxon. Since the after party performance, Don Richie has performed at several venues in Michigan, and is headed back to Atlanta, GA soon. Some of his musical influences have been Tupac, The Notorious B.I.G., Nas, Master P, Ghostface Killah, Ice Cube, T.I., Jim Jones, Kanye West, and Jay-Z. Many things and people inspire and motivate Don Richie, but as he says, “what you get by achieving your goals is not as important as what you become by achieving your goals”. Don Richie may very well be one of the most anticipated artists of our time. Most definitely an artist to watch and follow closely. Don Richie just dropped his second mix tape, 'Art On The Wall', and he just won 1st place at Coast 2 Coast Live ATL Edition on February 24, 2014 at Harlem Nights in Atlanta, GA.
